What the cries seem to be really calling for is virtuous people, not necessarily people skilled in ethical theory. What the business schools can produce is the latter, and the two should not be confused. Nonetheless, unless virtuous people are morally articulate, their voices will not be adequately heard in the marketplace.
But if the courses are undergraduate courses, why should they be taught to those in graduate programs? They are courses the student should have had as an undergraduate and would be at best remedial courses that should not carry graduate credit. It is not only the content of a particular course that makes that course humanistic. Philosophy may be as technical as accounting and may be taught as a technical as opposed to a liberal arts course. In each of the subjects traditionally included in the humanities, we can distinguish content and method.
This faculty should not be expected to teach from the same texts currently used, for that would defeat the purpose of hiring them.
