Kosugi himself had been a cofounder, with Mieko Shiomi, of the experimental music group Group Ongaku, in 1961, and had worked in the early to mid-1960s with a whole range of internationally renowned artists and musicians from Toru Takemitsu to Robert Rauschenberg, including Ichiyanagi, Cage, Paik and Vostell.
